EDEN is the most comprehensive European association in the field of open, flexible, distance and e-learning. Its aim is to foster developments in distance and eLearning through the provision of a platform for collaboration between a wide range of institutions, networks and individuals concerned with ODL and e-learning in Europe. This is done by the information and networking activities in the membership, by the organisation of European conferences and publications. The EDEN Membership (in August 2012) consists of 184 institutional members and 1129 individual members representing 421 institutions from 55 countries, covering all Europe. EDEN’s participation in EU programmes is focused on comprehensive strategic projects, in quality development, observatory, networking and knowledge base building, further supporting the implementation through networking, evaluation and dissemination of results.

    Dr. András Szűcs (1956), graduated as bio-engineer in 1980. After ten years of university teaching, from 1990 held international posts as Director of the EU TEMPUS Programme and the EU PHARE Programme in Hungary. In 1997, he became the Executive Director, from 2000 Secretary General of the European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN). Since his appointment in September 2000, he is Director of the Centre for Distance and Adult Learning at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

    Ms. Ildikó Mázár (1976), graduated at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2002 as bio-engineer, and, in 2002 she completed a distance educational course entitled “Course development, learning management”. Since September 2002 she is obtaining her first job at the European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN) as Project Manager and contributed to the successful completion of over 40 EU projects and assisted to an additional 100+ applications’ composition.

    Ms. Barbara Lázár (1973), graduated at the College of Commerce, Catering and Tourism in 1997 as economist of commerce specializing in marketing-advertising. After six years activities in business as Communication and Banquet Manager, between 2003 and 2010 she worked as Project Coordinator for the Cultural Contact Point of Hungary dealing with the EU Culture Programme. Since 2010 she works as Conference and Membership Coordinator at the European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN).

    Ms. Éva Suba (1976), obtained her Masters degree at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest in 2006. Following her free-lance trainer activities on the field of European youth projects linked to different NGOs and governmental institutions, she worked as Training Manager at the Volunteer Center in Budapest. Since October 2004 she works as Communication and Networking Responsible at the European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN).
